A Weekend Away in Joshua Tree

As we approach Joshua Tree National Park in a vehicle of 5 friends, a mix of new and return park goers, our eyes glued onto large rock formations build over billions of years surrounded by ghostly and sizeable native plant, Joshua tree. If Mars exists on earth, then it must look like this. Located on the southeastern part of California, this majestic park expands 790K acres with an average of more than 2 million annually.

To celebrate Daniel’s 30th birthday, we rented a 2-bedroom midcentury-style house equipped with a 2-person teepee in the backyard. This dog-friendly accommodation was the perfect bungalow for our 3-day weekend. We explored the national park, enjoyed countless bottles of libations accompanied by competitive board games, and ate delicious Indian food at a family owned restaurant named Sam’s Pizza (weird name, I know!).

Only 2.5 hours away from Los Angeles, Joshua Tree is the perfect getaway to escape for the weekend. Here is a list of where to stay, eat, and hike in the small town.
